AOI is seeking a Software QA Engineer with 10+ Years of experience testing embedded Firmware and software applications in the cable industry. As a Senior Staff QA Engineer, you will help lead the quality strategy for our next-generation smart amplifiers. With over a decade of experience, you will act as a "gatekeeper of quality," ensuring our devices deliver a seamless digital experience for our customers. Beyond traditional testing, you will participate in the definition and implementation of a nascent automation initiative, building scalable frameworks from the ground up and mentoring a growing team to adopt automated testing as a core discipline.
Primary Responsibilities
- Quality: Define quality parameters and design test procedures specifically for connected smart home products.
- Technical Mentorship: Act as a coach for the engineering team, providing guidance on testing techniques, establishing KPIs, and promoting best practices for testability.
- End-to-End Strategy: Drive quality initiatives across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from initial requirement reviews to final production release.
- CI/CD Integration: Partner with DevOps to embed automated testing into continuous integration pipelines, reducing regression cycles and manual effort.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 10+ years in Software Quality Assurance or similar customer quality focused roles.
- Expertise in C/C++ or Python for firmware and middleware validation.
- Deep knowledge of cable network and embedded device architectures.
- Proficiency in modern QA tools like JIRA, Zephyr, Labview.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment and drive strategic quality improvements.
Preferred Skills
- Deep understanding of Project Management principles related to customer delivery of software projects – planning, estimating, reporting.
- Direct experience with DOCSIS standards or cable industry-specific networking hardware.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
- Experience with cloud-native IoT platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT) and data analytics for performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with network diagnostic tools like Wireshark, Viavi, and logical analyzers.
Location
This position will be on-site based in Sugar Land, Texas.
