A major Canadian technology company is seeking a
Data Scientist
to contribute to high-impact machine learning initiatives that support customer retention, network performance, and revenue growth. This is a hands-on role where you’ll build and deploy models, partner with cross-functional teams, and help translate data into meaningful business outcomes.
The role can be remote anywhere in Canada, with a preference for candidates located in the Greater Toronto Area who are open to occasional onsite collaboration.
About the Role
In this position, you’ll work closely with business, product, and operations teams to develop models that influence customer behavior and operational efficiency. You’ll apply strong analytical and modeling skills while continuing to grow your expertise in production ML systems and real-world applications.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving practical problems with data and wants exposure to end-to-end machine learning workflows.
What You’ll Do
- Build and support machine learning models such as:
- • Churn prediction & retention analysis
- • Propensity modeling (upsell/cross-sell)
- • Network performance and coverage analysis
- • Anomaly detection
- Contribute to model development, evaluation, and iteration
- Support deployment, monitoring, and ongoing model performance tracking
- Translate business questions into analytical approaches and actionable insights
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to understand needs and deliver solutions
- Contribute to experimentation (A/B testing) and data-driven decision making
- Help maintain best practices around data quality, reproducibility, and documentation
What You Bring
- 2–5 years of experience in data science or machine learning roles
- Strong foundation in statistics and machine learning concepts
- Experience with Python and common ML/data libraries
- Familiarity with model evaluation, experimentation, and basic ML lifecycle concepts
- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus
- Experience working with large datasets and building data pipelines is an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Nice to Have
- Experience with time-series, forecasting, or customer analytics
- Exposure to MLOps tools or production model deployment
- Background in telecom, marketing, or customer analytics environments
