EMC Test Engineer
Role summary
Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, California, is seeking an EMC Test Engineer to support the development of its all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. This role involves preparing DO-160G test plans, conducting in-house EMC testing and report generation for products like electric powertrains and batteries, and managing EMC equipment. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams and external labs to ensure product compliance with aerospace and automotive EMC standards. The position requires a solid understanding of EMC equipment and experience with DO-160G/MIL 461 standards, particularly in emissions and susceptibility testing within the aerospace or automotive industry.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare DO-160G Test Plans (Section 15-25) for Archer Products.
- In-house EMC Setup-Organization/Testing/Report Generation for various Archer Products such as Electric Powertrain and Batteries.
- Procure/Maintain/Calibrate EMC equipment such as Antennas, LISNs, Current Probes, Test Receivers, RF cables etc.
- Work closely with EMC Design Engineers to design/test/certify various Archer Products for DO-160.
- Assist various Archer Teams/Engineers with System and Vehicle Level EMC efforts. This will include testing/debugging/report generation etc.
- Work with external EMC test labs for Aircraft level and DO-160 pre-compliance/compliance for Archer Products.
Requirements:
- Solid knowledge of various EMC Equipment such as LISNs, Antennas, BCI Probes, EMI receivers, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Vector Network Analyzer etc.
- Previous EMC test experience with DO-160G/MIL 461 standards – especially Emissions, Susceptibility and Indirect Lightning.
- Familiar with various standards such as DO-160, MIL-461, CISPR 12/16/25/32, UN ECE Regulation 10, FCC Part 15/18 etc.
- Should have prior EMC Pre-Compliance and Certification experience in Aerospace/Automotive Industry.
- Good to have Power Electronics background and exposure to EMC mitigation strategies for emissions, ESD, susceptibility etc.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Previous certification experience in ECE Reg 10, FCC, DO -160 etc.
- Good understanding of simulation of Power Electronics / Electric Circuits.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
