Role Description
This is a volunteer role for a Volunteer Software Engineer at Atria Community in Vancouver, BC (remote friendly across Canada. The Software Engineer will be involved in back-end web development (Python/Django), front-end development (React.js), and programming tasks to support the community organizing platform for the VFJC (Vancouver Food Justice Coalition). We currently have a team of volunteer engineers (currently 10 devs strong) to help with frontend and backend development, and we are hiring more for continuity.

no previous work experience necessary
for this role, in fact, this role aims to help out current programming students and recent graduates faced with a tough tech job market gain some relevant experience.
To be extremely clear, this is a volunteer role and everyone in the organization including the engineering team lead and the founder are volunteering to be a part of this cause. There is
no monetary compensation
in this volunteer role.
At this point we will only consider candidates living in Canada (west coast to the east coast is OK!), we are
not
