Flight Software Engineer - Up to $225,000

Overview

My client is an advanced aerospace technology company developing next‑generation autonomous systems for high‑reliability, mission‑critical environments. The team builds end‑to‑end platforms that combine autonomy, sensing, controls, and robust flight software to enable fast, resilient operations across demanding aerospace domains.

Why join?

This is an opportunity to join a small, high‑impact engineering team where you will own major sections of the software stack from concept through deployment. The company operates with a fast pace, a strong engineering culture, and a focus on disciplined execution. You’ll work on complex, meaningful challenges that directly influence the performance, reliability, and safety of advanced aerospace vehicles. High ownership, real impact, and the chance to help shape a system from early development through flight.

The Company

The company designs and develops autonomous aerospace systems that require exceptional levels of reliability, speed, and situational awareness. The environment rewards engineers who think system‑wide, take accountability, and build software that is simple, scalable, and robust. The engineering division spans avionics, GNC, systems, and mission software, all working together to bring advanced vehicles from concept to operational readiness.

The Role

The company is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to develop the full flight software stack, including both ground‑side mission operations tools and vehicle‑side embedded software. You will work closely with avionics, GNC, propulsion, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless, integrated performance across the system. The role covers architecture, implementation, testing, and flight readiness, with involvement in software‑in‑the‑loop, hardware‑in‑the‑loop, simulation environments, and flight campaigns.

The Essential Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
  • 4+ years’ experience building systems or mission operations software
  • Experience with ground systems, mission operations, commanding/telemetry, or real‑time control software
  • Experience working on aerospace, robotics, automotive, or other safety‑critical systems
  • Hands‑on embedded software experience for real‑time or high‑reliability systems
  • Exposure to DevOps for embedded systems and automated testing pipelines
  • U.S. Citizenship required, with ability to obtain or hold a TS/SCI clearance

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience across both mission operations tooling and embedded flight code
  • Background in autonomous or highly dynamic aerospace vehicles
  • Strong systems thinking across avionics, controls, and software interfaces
  • Experience building simulation environments or advanced test frameworks

Benefits

- Salary up to
$225,000
, depending on experience
- Equity
in a fast‑growing aerospace organisation
- Healthcare
