Role summary

AXON Networks is seeking a Senior Networking QA Engineer to join their global QA organization in Irvine, CA. This role is responsible for the end-to-end verification and validation of AXON’s AI-driven network orchestration platforms, cloud-native software solutions, and next-generation routers. Key responsibilities include designing and executing test plans, performing various types of testing (functional, integration, system, performance) across cloud, embedded, and networking components, and collaborating with engineering teams on manual and automated testing. The engineer will analyze defects, debug issues, collect data, and contribute to process improvements. A BS/MS in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of software/system testing experience are required, with a strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be part of the global QA organization, responsible for end-to-end verification and validation of AXON’s networking solutions, including cloud
applications, user interfaces, system software, and embedded platforms to ensure high
quality, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities Include

  • Design and execute test plans, test cases, and test strategies for networking products and platform features.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, and performance testing across cloud services, embedded software, and networking components.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to execute manual and automated testing according to project schedules.
  • Analyze defects, reproduce issues, and work with developers to identify root causes and verify fixes.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for field support teams and assist in debugging customer-reported issues.
  • Collect and analyze logs, network traces, and system data to investigate issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and test coverage.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and focus to meet demanding project deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Work effectively with globally distributed development and QA teams.
  • Prepare clear and insightful written documentation (test reports, test documentation, defect summaries) for internal stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Education: BS or MS in Electronics, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software or system testing. Product-based testing experience is a must.
  • Experience with developing or testing customer-premise equipment (CPE), embedded systems, or cloud platforms, such as residential gateways or IOT devices, is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Wi-Fi, Routing, NAT, QoS.
  • Experience using networking tools such as Spirent, Veriwave, Ixia, Wireshark, iPerf, ixChariot is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with REST API testing using tools such as Postman, including creating collections and analyzing API responses.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tools.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies including Agile development, test case design, defect tracking and test reporting.
  • Experience with test management and issue tracking tools such as JIRA, Xray.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with Python scripting, Robot framework, or test automationframework.
  • Experience testing network devices integrated with cloud management platforms.
  • Familiarity with event-driven system debugging.
  • Prior experience working with globally distributed remote teams.

Due to the on-site nature of this role, we are only considering candidates who currently reside in or near Irvine, CA.
Annual salary range: $110,000 - $140,000
