Role summary

BCubed Engineering is seeking a Platform Engineer in Tampa, FL, to architect, deploy, and manage Kubernetes-based infrastructure across diverse environments. This full-time, permanent role involves working with cross-functional teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, optimize containerized applications, and ensure seamless integration of tenant applications. Responsibilities include designing Kubernetes solutions, providing tenant guidance, building Helm charts, implementing security best practices, and monitoring/optimizing clusters. A Bachelor's degree, proven Kubernetes experience, Docker proficiency, and scripting skills are required, along with a SECRET US security clearance. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, Kubernetes certifications, experience with ecosystem tools, IaC, and cloud providers.

Job Description:

As a Platform Engineer at BCubed Engineering, you will play a critical role in architecting, deploying, and managing our customer’s Kubernetes-based infrastructure across a variety of environments, ranging from edge-deployed compute platforms to enterprise clouds. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters, implement CI/CD pipelines, and optimize the performance of containerized applications.

You will facilitate the successful integration of tenant applications into the Kubernetes Platform. Your role will be essential to ensuring a seamless experience for internal and external application developers as they join the Kubernetes ecosystem. This role requires technical expertise paired with the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with developers to understand their application requirements and design Kubernetes solutions that meet their needs.
  • Provide guidance to platform tenants on best practices for Kubernetes usage.
  • Build and refine Helm charts and packaging assets that integrate tenant applications into platform release packages for consistent deployment.
  • Implement security best practices to ensure the integrity of the Kubernetes environment.
  • Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters to support microservices-based architecture in cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Monitor and optimize Kubernetes clusters for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in Kubernetes and containerization.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools like Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., GitLabCI).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working closely with tenants.
- Ability to understand and translate application requirements into Kubernetes configurations.
- Active SECRET US security clearance

Strong Candidates Will Meet the Following Qualifications
:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
  • Kubernetes certification (e.g., CKA, CKAD, CKS).
  • Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem tools like Helm, Istio, ArgoCD, FluxCD, Prometheus, or Rancher.
  • Experience with Palantir Apollo.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
