Role summary

A high-growth company seeks a Lead Applied AI Engineer to build and deploy production-grade AI systems from scratch. This role focuses on identifying AI opportunities, architecting and implementing solutions for internal enablement and business-embedded AI (e.g., automation, enrichment, classification, support). The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, strong hands-on skills in applied AI (LLMs, embeddings, RAG, agents), proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript, and experience with scalable data infrastructure. This is a highly visible builder role for someone technically adept and commercially minded, capable of translating ambiguous business problems into impactful AI solutions.

We’re partnering with a high-growth, category-defining company to find a
Lead Applied AI Engineer
who will play a pivotal role in shaping how AI is deployed across the business. This is an opportunity to build meaningful, production-grade AI systems from the ground up inside a company where leadership is deeply committed to AI as a core strategic lever.

This is not a research role or a narrow experimentation seat. This is a highly visible builder role for someone who wants to identify valuable AI opportunities, turn them into real systems, and drive measurable impact across both internal operations and commercial workflows. You’ll work directly with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to determine where AI can create real leverage, then architect and deploy solutions that improve speed, efficiency, decision-making, and growth.

The scope is broad and high-impact. One side of the role focuses on
internal AI enablement
— improving how teams operate through workflow automation, reporting, knowledge systems, and operational tooling. The other side focuses on
business-embedded AI
— building systems that support revenue-driving functions like prospecting, enrichment, classification, workflow acceleration, and customer-facing support. The common thread is practical, high-value AI that gets used in the real world.

You’ll partner across Engineering, Data, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and executive leadership to translate ambiguous business problems into scalable, production-ready AI solutions. This role is ideal for someone who is both deeply technical and commercially minded — someone who can build with engineers, communicate clearly with executives, and make strong judgments about prioritization, tradeoffs, and ROI.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of end-to-end AI workflows from concept through production
  • Identify the highest-value opportunities for AI across internal operations and customer- or revenue-adjacent workflows
  • Build practical AI systems that improve efficiency, decision quality, and organizational velocity
  • Embed AI into core business processes such as enrichment, classification, support tooling, workflow automation, and go-to-market operations
  • Architect scalable solutions using LLMs, embeddings, RAG, agents, orchestration frameworks, and modern data infrastructure
  • Partner closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to bring high-impact ideas into production
  • Help leadership understand where AI can create durable advantage, and where focus matters most
  • Continuously evaluate emerging tools and approaches while maintaining high standards around scalability, security, and data quality

What We're Looking For

- 5+ years of engineering experience with clear evidence of building and shipping production systems
- Strong hands-on background in applied AI, including LLMs, embeddings, RAG architectures, and/or agent-based systems
- Strong coding ability in
Python
and/or
TypeScript/JavaScript
- Experience building scalable pipelines and working across modern data infrastructure
- Strong product sense and the ability to translate ambiguous business needs into practical technical systems
- Comfort operating across both technical and business conversations
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence at both the operator and executive level
- A bias for action and a strong instinct for where AI can create measurable value

Why This Role Stands Out

This is a chance to join a company where AI is not a side project — it is expected to become foundational to how the business scales. The role offers unusually broad scope, strong executive visibility, and the ability to shape both strategy and execution. You won’t be inheriting a narrow lane. You’ll be helping define the roadmap, build the systems, and influence how the company thinks about applied AI more broadly.

It’s especially compelling for someone who wants:

  • Real ownership over applied AI initiatives
  • A seat near senior leadership and key decision-makers
  • Broad exposure across operations, product, and commercial teams
  • The chance to build systems that are actually adopted and tied to business outcomes
  • A fast-moving environment where strong builders can have outsized impact
