Role Description

Betwixt is seeking a
Senior UX Designer & Engineer
who combines strong product and UX design instincts with the technical ability to bring ideas to life through modern prototyping, front-end implementation, and AI-assisted workflows. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable thinking strategically about user journeys and diving into the details of interaction design, interface systems, and product behavior.

This person will lead user-centered design efforts across products and internal tools, helping shape how users interact with complex systems in ways that feel elegant, intuitive, and useful. You will be responsible for translating ambiguous ideas into clear experiences, conducting research to better understand user needs, creating wireframes and high-fidelity designs, building prototypes, and collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to ship thoughtful solutions.

Because AI is central to the future of our products and workflows, this role requires real experience using AI coding tools and AI-enhanced design or engineering processes. You should understand how to use tools like AI coding assistants, rapid prototyping workflows, and emerging interaction patterns to accelerate execution without sacrificing quality. You will help define how AI should show up in the product experience, while also using AI as part of your own design and development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end UX and product design across web, platform, and internal product experiences
• Turn early concepts, product ideas, and technical capabilities into clear user flows, wireframes, and polished interface designs
• Conduct user research, interviews, discovery sessions, and usability testing to uncover real user needs and pain points
• Design intuitive experiences for complex technical and AI-driven workflows
• Create clickable prototypes, design explorations, and interactive mockups to validate ideas quickly
• Collaborate closely with founders, engineers, and product stakeholders to align business goals, technical feasibility, and user needs
• Contribute to or help establish a scalable design system, interaction patterns, and UX standards across products
• Use AI coding and design tools to accelerate ideation, prototyping, engineering handoff, and implementation
• Translate design concepts into production-minded front-end code, prototypes, or engineering-ready specs when needed
• Help define best practices for integrating AI features into product experiences in ways that are useful, trustworthy, and easy to understand
• Advocate for quality, consistency, accessibility, and strong product thinking throughout the build process
• Operate with a high degree of ownership in a remote, fast-moving, early-stage environment

- Required experience using AI coding tools
and integrating AI into either product workflows, design systems, or engineering processes
- Strong understanding of how AI changes user expectations, workflow design, and interface behavior
- Ability to collaborate effectively with remote, cross-functional teams including founders, engineers, and product stakeholders
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent real-world experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing for AI-native products, assistants, copilots, automation tools, or developer-facing platforms
• Comfort with front-end implementation using tools such as React, Next.js, HTML/CSS, or similar modern frameworks
• Experience building or contributing to design systems and reusable UI patterns
• Familiarity with prompt design, AI-assisted prototyping, vibe-coding workflows, or rapid concept validation using LLM-based tools
• Experience in early-stage startups where ambiguity, speed, and ownership are part of daily work
• Interest in future-facing product experiences, community-driven products, and new models of human-computer interaction
