Intern, IT Security Analyst
Role summary
The Information Security Analyst Intern will report to the IT Security Manager and support the Information Security Program at BGIS. This role involves operational and implementation tasks to enhance the IT-Security posture, focusing on best practices, incident response, security project delivery, and security operations. Key responsibilities include monitoring for malicious activity, supporting audits, assisting with security response playbooks, conducting threat assessments, and monitoring third-party vendor risks.
SUMMARY
The position of Information Security Analyst (Intern) will report to the IT Security Manager in support of the Information Security Program established at BGIS. The position will support various operational and implementation type of tasks in maintaining and improving the IT-Security posture at BGIS with a focus on best-practices consultation, incident response, security project delivery support and security operations.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors multiple computing environments to detect and validate malicious activity, security events, unauthorized access or use of BGIS information assets.
- Provide support for audits by collecting evidence and assist tracking of remediation activities.
- Assist in building security response playbooks.
- Conduct threat assessment
Monitor and report third-party vendor risks.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Enrolled in a College or University Program in related field of expertise plus working experience in IT-Security specific roles
- Familiar with Excel and Powerpoint
- Comfortable and adaptable to taking on various roles, both on a technical level and operational level.
- Aptitude in ability to think like a malicious actor.
- Ability to apply IT in solving security problems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated individual, with a willingness to learn and apply new information.
