Role summary

BILL is seeking a Senior Lead, Product Operations to architect its next-generation product execution engine. This role will define the operating model for Product, Design, and Product Marketing, embed AI into workflows, and strengthen cross-functional alignment. Responsibilities include governing the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), introducing AI-assisted processes for automation and efficiency, and leading cross-functional forums for planning and risk resolution. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in product operations or related roles at scaling SaaS companies, with demonstrated success in building AI-native workflows and operating models. Proficiency in tools like Productboard and Figma is required.

About the Role

BILL is transforming how we build Product, and we need a strategic Product Operations leader to architect our next-generation execution engine. You will define how our Product teams plan, build and deliver exceptional software. You will embed AI into our workflows, strengthen cross-functional alignment and create a foundation that helps teams succeed in a modern AI-centric product development environment. Your work will accelerate innovation, elevate product quality and ensure we deliver with clarity, speed and consistency.

What you’ll focus on:

Define and Evolve the Product & Design Operating Model

  • Architect the next-generation operating model for Product, Design and Product Marketing including standards, rhythms and frameworks that enable predictable and high-quality delivery
  • Govern and continuously improve the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC), ensuring consistency from problem framing to launch
  • Drive AI-Enabled Operational Excellence

  • Introduce and scale AI-assisted processes that streamline execution, enhance decision quality and automate manual workflows
  • Identify opportunities for automation across the PDLC to improve velocity and baseline product health
  • Improve Execution, Visibility and Speed

  • Partner with Engineering to ensure rapid delivery without compromising quality
  • Lead critical cross-functional forums such as quarterly planning, execution reviews and Product Experience Reviews to drive alignment and resolve risks early
  • Establish Tools, Insights and Single Sources of Truth

  • Drive adoption and effective use of Productboard, Figma and other operational tools to create clarity across teams
  • Build scalable systems for roadmap visibility, dependency management and data-driven decision making
  • What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in product operations, product management, or related operating roles at scaling SaaS companies.
  • Deep product expertise to effectively enable product leaders and drive decision-making
  • Demonstrated experience building AI-native workflows end-to-end and prototyping with tools like Claude to automate manual operational lift, synthesize qualitative data, and accelerate service design.
  • Demonstrated success building operating models, PDLC frameworks, or governance systems in a software environment
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders across Product, Design, Engineering and Operations
  • Strong fluency in tools such as Productboard and Figma; experience driving tool adoption at scale is a plus
  • Exceptional communication, systems thinking, and strategic judgment
  • A strong bias toward adaptability, action, clarity, and continuous improvement and an enthusiasm for AI-enabled ways of working

    Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed below. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits.     Zone 1- San Francisco Bay Area CA (includes HQ), New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles County
    $187,600$234,500 USD
    Zone 2- CA (Non San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County), Austin TX, Massachusetts
    $168,800$211,100 USD
    Zone 3 -Utah (includes Utah office), Houston TX, Florida, North Carolina
    $159,500$199,300 USD
