About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong Python engineering expertise and front-office platform experience to support the development of next-generation technology for structured products and equity derivatives.
This role sits within a strategic platform modernization initiative focused on structured notes and equity-linked products, supporting capabilities across pricing, trade capture, execution workflows, and lifecycle management.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with front-office stakeholders, technology teams, and global engineering groups to design scalable solutions and help unify fragmented technology systems into a modern, enterprise platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Engineering & Architecture
- Design and develop backend services supporting structured products workflows within a front-office environment
- Contribute to architecture decisions for a distributed trading technology platform
- Help define scalable data models for complex financial instruments using structured schemas
- Ensure systems are built with strong performance, scalability, and reliability standards
Full Stack Development
- Develop backend services primarily using Python or other object-oriented languages
- Collaborate with UI developers building React-based applications and ensure well-defined API integrations
- Design and maintain RESTful APIs, ensuring proper versioning and compatibility across services
- Build services that integrate seamlessly with front-office tools used by trading and structuring teams
Platform Modernization & Best Practices
- Contribute to modernization initiatives consolidating fragmented legacy systems
- Establish and promote engineering best practices, testing standards, and CI/CD workflows
- Participate in system design discussions and architectural planning
- Identify potential technical risks and propose practical solutions
Front-Office Collaboration
- Partner closely with sales, trading, and structuring teams to gather requirements and translate them into technology solutions
- Support business-critical applications that directly enable trading and pricing workflows
- Provide production support for front-office platforms, including troubleshooting and issue resolution
Required Skills and Experience:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong expertise in Python or another object-oriented programming language
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs and distributed services
- Hands-on experience with object-oriented design principles and modern development practices
- Experience working with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments supporting business-critical systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical teams and business stakeholders
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working in capital markets or financial services technology
- Exposure to structured products, structured notes, or equity derivatives
- Familiarity with front-office trading systems and workflows
- Experience with event-driven architectures or messaging systems
- Background mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
- Comfort working in Linux-based development environments
\*\*The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $200,000\*\*
