Role summary

Blank Street is seeking a Shift Lead to join their team in Boston. This role involves leading by example on the floor, ensuring smooth shift operations, and creating a positive environment for customers and team members. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced settings, enjoys connecting with people, has strong coffee knowledge, and possesses excellent decision-making and multitasking skills. Responsibilities include crafting coffee products, training new employees, opening/closing the location, resolving customer issues, and driving sales and profitability. Requires 2+ years of customer service leadership experience and availability for full-time hours, including peak days and holidays.

At Blank Street, we’re reimagining the cafe experience, making high-quality coffee and matcha accessible and efficient. As a Shift Lead, you’ll play a key role in bringing our mission to life. You’ll lead by example on the floor, ensure smooth operations during your shift, and create an environment where both customers and team members feel valued. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in fast-paced settings, loves connecting with people, and is passionate about great coffee and matcha.

    • What You’ll Own

  • Craft beautiful coffee products and serve all Blank Street customers with energy, warmth, and empathy
  • Support your GM and our Training Team to help train new employees to succeed at Blank Street, including ensuring that new team members are following all recipe and training for menu items and processes and that they are in correct uniform, are upbeat and vibes are positive
  • Open and close the location safely and responsibly and ensure that cleaning duties for the store are followed at the beginning, during and end of the shift
  • Positive and solution focused handling of any minor customer issue
  • At a store level, leads all initiatives with the operations and marketing teams to increase foot traffic, new customers, daily sales, and operational profitability and develop a loyal neighborhood customer base for your store

    • Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in a customer service leadership position
  • 18+ years of age
  • Able to lift 25+ lbs, and to stand for long periods of time
  • Availability that meets the needs of our cafes
  • Full Time: 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days of availability required and must be available to work 2 peak days (Peak days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Availability to work between 6:30 am and 9:00 pm
  • Weekend and holiday availability preferred
  • You must be authorized to work in the U.S.: upon acceptance of a job offer and completion of the Form I-9 with acceptable documents, Blank Street will provide the federal government with employees’ Form I-9 information to confirm authorization to work in the U.S. (a process known as ”E-Verify”).
