The Electro-Optics/Infrared (EOIR) Physics Laboratory within Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking an Electro Optics / Infrared Lab Test Engineer in Berkeley, MO to assist in lab execution and innovation activities. This will include designing, developing, and performing various optical measurements not limited to tests of aircraft displays and lighting, optical properties of materials, infrared thermography, and sensor laser protection.
The selected candidate will work in a team environment with opportunities to lead and develop tests with support of team lead and senior engineers.
This position rolls up to the BT&E Electromagnetics test capability with opportunities to also support labs specializing in Radar Cross Section testing, Electromagnetic Interference / Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMI/EMC) testing, Antenna Pattern testing locally in St. Louis as well as across the enterprise.
BT&E is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Entry-Level and Associate level EO/IR Engineers.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Assists in developing and validating requirements for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components
- Assists in the development and validation of electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures
- Assists in developing architectures to integrate components into higher level systems and platforms
- Performs trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component and interconnects performance and to optimize design around established requirements
- Defines and conducts simple tests to validate performance of designs to requirements
- Collects and analyzes data on supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements
- Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by recommending engineering solutions to issues
- Supports project management by preparing and presenting project status data
- Writes simple sections of proposals to support development of new business
- Works under general supervision
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Willing to travel up to 10%
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Level 2: 2 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Physics/Optics
- Experience with Electro Optical development programs (ex: producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration and test of fiber optic (F/O) sensors, systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products)
- Experience with Electro Optical laboratory testing of antennas and/or RF/microwave/electro-optical components
- Active U.S. Secret or higher Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Summary pay range Entry-Level: $73,950 - $100,050
Summary pay range Associate Level: $91,800 - $124,200
