Role summary

We are seeking a Product Owner to join our agile teams, aligning with value streams and collaborating closely with product managers and business leaders. This role focuses on defining strategic investments, identifying features, and breaking down initiatives into actionable user stories. The Product Owner will be responsible for prioritizing backlogs, participating in PI planning, and communicating delivery status to senior management. The ideal candidate possesses strong business process understanding, analytical skills, and a problem-solving mindset, acting as the primary liaison for team progress and support issues. This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days per week in our Denver office.

Product Owner Responsibilities
:

  • Works within eight agile teams, each aligned to a value stream with an executive business leader and product manager.
  • Collaborates with product managers to define strategic investments and technology needs.
  • Helps identify value, features, and MVP scope.
  • Breaks down initiatives into epics, features, and user stories.
  • Participates in quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning with teams and product managers, integrating technical debt and vulnerability remediation into plans.
  • Communicates progress and technology delivery status to business leadership.
  • Prioritizes backlogs, writes user stories.
  • Acts as the face of the team during support issues, production defects, and outages, communicating with the business and providing workarounds.
  • Works with a "controls team" to address issues affecting customers.
  • Provides bi-weekly reports to senior management.

Candidate Profile
:

Skills
: Deep understanding of the product and its value, "go-to person" for strategic product decisions, deep understanding of the assigned functional business area, analytical skills for backlog management, ability to author epics/features/stories, collaboration with support teams.

Technical Background
: Business-oriented, business process expert. Not required to have deep technical skills (e.g., SQL queries); partners with a more technical system analyst.

Qualities
: Problem-solver, "figure stuff out" mentality, able to synthesize delivery risk/value information, ensures transparent delivery of envisioned value. Does not necessarily need capital markets experience but must be able to quickly understand it.
