Role summary

The Genomics Platform is seeking a Bioautomation Engineer I to support its extensive automation portfolio. ### Description & Requirements

The Genomics Platform is dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging biomedical problems through the continuous development and investment in cutting edge technology and large-scale research projects that are both challenging and complex. The platform utilizes a sizable fleet of automated instrumentation with integrated LIMS messaging to meet the demands of diagnostic testing and genomic sequencing.

We are seeking a Bioautomation Engineer I to help maintain the genomics platform's extensive automation portfolio. In this role the candidate will initiate, lead, and carry out projects with limited supervision. This candidate will have the experience and skills to work independently to complete assigned tasks in support of the genomics platform goals. This candidate will interact with vendors to troubleshoot and improve lab and non-lab related instruments and optimize existing workflows for improved throughput on all automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for automation-related issues to internal teams. Responsibilities include instrument repair, performing regularly scheduled preventative maintenance, coordination with external instrument service technicians, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Automation Development: Ability to execute automation related tasks independently. Serves as an automation resource for laboratory researchers seeking assistance with automation/assay development work. Troubleshoot issues when they arise to limit production downtime. Experience with multi-faceted automation softwares and multi-discipline engineering skills.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of automated solutions and software applications through thorough testing and debugging.
  • Process Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement, and work towards enhancing efficiency and reducing manual efforts through automation.
  • Documentation: Maintain SOP documentation in Policystat and update as needed, maintain instrument information in JIRA.

Qualifications:

  • B.S w/ 1+ years or M.S.
  • Proven experience with automated platforms including Hamilton, Bravo, and Lynx
  • Experience performing laboratory instrument repair and preventative maintenance
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A passion for staying updated with emerging technologies and a continuous learning mindset

The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.
