DevOps Platform Engineer Lead
Role summary
The DevOps Platform Engineer Lead will oversee the technical direction, development, and implementation of technology platforms for the Core Banking team. This role requires deep expertise in platform architecture, integration, and scalability to ensure robust and efficient platform services. The Lead will provide technical guidance, ensure platform stability and performance, and align platform capabilities with business objectives. Responsibilities include developing strategic roadmaps, leading projects, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of platform development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role, and a strong understanding of DevOps, cloud technologies, and API development.

As a Platform Lead for our Core Banking team, you oversee the technical direction, development, and implementation of our technology platforms within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of platform architecture, integration, and scalability to ensure the delivery of robust and efficient platform services. The Platform Tech Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business objectives and drive innovation. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of our platforms, as well as supporting our ITS strategic roadmap.
• Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for platform development that aligns with business goals and enhances user experience.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the platform team, ensuring best practices in architecture, design, and coding. Lead a cross-functional team of engineers, architects, and product managers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
• Ensure the platform architecture is robust, scalable, and secure. Provide guidance on best practices and technical standards.
• Implement and maintain metrics to monitor platform performance, reliability, and user engagement. Use data-driven insights to identify improvements.
• Lead platform-related projects, from planning and execution to delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines. Coordinate with stakeholders to define project technical requirements and objectives.
• Work closely with internal teams (e.g., product, data platforms, retail) to understand needs and ensure platform solutions meet user demands.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to optimize platform functionality and integrations.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to leverage new tools and processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations related to platform usage and data security. Incorporate into the platform roadmap compliance / regulatory items and legacy systems modernization.
What you’ll bring to the team:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience in platform development, integration and management, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Understanding of Canadian banking and/or payments ecosystem including the partner landscape is an asset
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations.
• Proficiency in the platform full stack (Web, Application, Database)
• Good understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure), API development, microservices architecture.
• Strong understanding of platform architecture and integration technologies.
• Familiar with multi-server environments.
• Working knowledge of DevOps principles.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk.
• Strong technical leadership abilities, with experience in technical decision-making, road mapping & platform optimization.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams & articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
