Position Overview
We are seeking a
detail-oriented Bookkeeper
with approximately
3+ years of hands-on experience
in a public accounting or CPA firm environment.
This role is focused on
full-cycle bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting
for a portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple clients in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate general ledgers for multiple clients
- Record day-to-day financial transactions (AP, AR, payroll, expenses)
- Perform monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, intercompany accounts)
- Prepare and post journal entries and working papers
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues proactively
- Support accountants with year-end file preparation
Tax & Compliance Support
- Prepare and assist with
GST/HST filings
- Support
T1 and T2 tax preparation
(working papers and documentation)
- Assist with payroll remittances and statutory filings (WSIB, CRA, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and tax requirements
Client Support
- Communicate with clients to collect financial data and documentation
- Perform bookkeeping clean-up and catch-up work when required
- Maintain organized digital records and ensure confidentiality
- Support senior accountants during peak periods (e.g., tax season)
Qualifications
- Minimum
3 years of bookkeeping experience
, ideally in a CPA firm
- Strong understanding of
full-cycle bookkeeping
- Experience with
GST/HST and basic tax support (T1/T2 exposure preferred)
- Knowledge of
Canadian payroll and compliance requirements
- Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, etc.)
- Experience with tax software (TaxPrep, Profile, etc.) is an asset
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or related field
