Role summary
CakeClub is seeking a Senior Visual/UI Designer for a part-time, remote role to enhance its personal finance app for Gen Z users. The designer will be responsible for the visual design of the iOS app, including data visualizations and motion. Key duties involve translating wireframes into polished screens, creating a visual language for financial data, and building/maintaining a design system in Figma. The role requires a strong eye for detail, system thinking, and the ability to make complex financial data accessible and emotionally resonant. The designer will also support implementation through clean file delivery, clear specs, and QA, and will have significant ownership and impact in an early-stage team.

You’re fluent in iOS design patterns, deeply comfortable in Figma, and you bring a distinct
visual sensibility that balances premium craft with warmth and approachability.
You have a sharp instinct for making data feel human. You know how to turn numbers, trends,
and financial metrics into visuals that are instantly readable and emotionally resonant, not just
technically accurate. You thrive in a small team where your work is visible and your taste sets
the bar.
Responsibilities
Craft Beautiful, High-Quality UI
- Own the visual design of our iOS app, including data visualizations, motion, micro animations
- Translate wireframes and flows into polished, production-ready screens that feel premium, playful, and cohesive
- Bring our brand guidelines and experience principles (Playful, Luxurious, Supportive,Trustworthy) to life in every interaction
Visualize Financial Data Clearly and Beautifully
- Design charts, graphs, progress indicators, and data dashboards that make complex financial information feel accessible and actionable at a glance
- Develop a visual language for data, consistent use of color, scale, labeling, and hierarchy across all data surfaces in the app
- Balance aesthetic quality with legibility: our users need to understand their cash flow, wealth trajectory, and spending patterns quickly and confidently
- Design empty states, loading states, and error states for data-heavy screens with the same level of care as the populated versions
Build and Evolve Our Design System
• Develop and maintain a scalable component library in Figma that reflects our brand with
precision
• Expand on and document visual standardsو spacing, color tokens, type scales, icon style,
and component states
• Ensure visual consistency across the entire product surface
Design for Delight
• Concept and spec micro-interactions, transitions, and celebratory moments that make the
app feel alive
• Partner with engineering to ensure animations are implemented true to intent
• Bring a strong point of view on visual storytelling within the product
Support Implementation
• Deliver Figma files that are clean, well-organized, and engineering-ready
• Write clear design specs covering visual details, states, edge cases, and interaction notes
• QA visual output during development to ensure design intent is fully realized
Nice to Have
• Experience designing fintech or consumer iOS apps
• Experience designing data-heavy products (fintech, health, analytics)
• Familiarity with charting libraries (e.g. Victory Native, Recharts, D3) and how they
constrain or enable design decisions
• Understanding of accessibility as it applies to data visualization (color contrast, label
alternatives to color-only encoding)
• Illustration skills or experience art-directing illustrators
• Familiarity with motion design tools
• Comfortable working in Notion
