About this role:
The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer is a key contributor to the improvement of our supplier base. This role will drive supplier improvement efforts by leveraging internal departments, incoming Quality Inspection and Procurement and by working directly with suppliers. This position will also coordinate all supplier data including elements of supplier surveillance, supplier quality database, supplier metrics (i.e. the supplier scorecard), quality manual, supplier risk management and ensures there is proper alignment of supplier surveillance inspections between the sites and our suppliers.
The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer position reports directly to the Manager of Quality Assurance and will interact directly with Operations, Quality, Electrical Design Engineering, Test & Manufacturing Engineers, Supply Chain and Finance in order to achieve the desired outcome, continually improve our products and processes while aligning and driving the company culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as a key contributor to supplier quality management process; primary contact with suppliers on all quality-related issues during both the supplier maintenance and supplier selection process
- Coordinates all supplier management activities, interactions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide supplier-related support to production and receiving inspection teams and lead the resolution of non-conformity due to supplier performance
- Proactively resolves and communicates any supplier-related process problems as they occur through the MRB process
- Participates in selection of suppliers in the design and development phase as well as the production phase to ensure that the supplier's current and future capabilities will meet the company's needs
- Acts as the supplier quality representative on design and development teams and ensures that the supplier selection process is followed in accordance with the company guidelines
- Conducts supplier Corrective Action reviews to assess suppliers on their ability to meet quality, delivery, and service levels
- Conducts supplier audits and, through the Global - 8D and Carrier Supplier Excellence Program, ensures the supplier implements and maintains any resulting corrective action program, and ensures timely closure of 8D- CAs.
- Audits and evaluates supplier internal processes to assess their overall compliance with our Quality Manual and ISO 9001:2015 standards
- Performs all other duties as required
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Industrial Engineering or high school diploma/GED with 3+ years supplier or process quality engineering experience in the manufacturing industry

- Ability to build effective working relationships, influence and problem-solve complex issues
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality/continuous improvement tools
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel software
- Demonstrated ability interpreting engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and procedures
- Demonstrated ability in task ownership and execution with minimal supervision
- As directed by Manager:
- Improve worst supplier’s quality PPM’s
- Validate effectiveness of Supplier Corrective Actions by Auditing their processes. Visit suppliers as required to achieve this goal
- Train suppliers in problem solving techniques and the Carrier Quality System
- Issue PPAP for new/revised parts and follow up
- Perform on site PPAP when applicable
