CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking individual for an ES Systems Sr Tech / Automation Engineer Apprentice role to support a major online retailer. This apprenticeship offers extensive paid training, combining 12 weeks of classroom instruction with on-the-job learning. The program focuses on developing skills in technical engineering, particularly in solving electrical and mechanical automation issues related to material handling equipment, including PLCs and motors. Safety is a top priority, and participants will promote a safe working environment. Upon successful completion of six months, career advancement opportunities may be explored.

About The Role
The Automation Engineer Apprenticeship program offers an extensive paid training in the Technical Engineering field. Participants seeking an exciting career as an Automation Engineer gain valuable skills through a combination of 12 weeks of classroom instruction and on-the-job learning that prepares them to join our account for a world-class leader.
What You’ll Do

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
  • Solve electrical and mechanical automation issues related to all material handling equipment, including PLCs, motors, photo-eyes, industrial communications, and more.
  • Troubleshooting on repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment.
  • Cultivate positive working relationships with our Client and Operations Maintenance team members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.

What You’ll Need

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Two years of experience working in a maintenance support role.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to attend a 12-week in person paid training at a designated training provider.
  • Proficiency using computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Programming experience a plus .
  • Ability to solve problems and carry out general instructions in standard situations such as; routine maintenance, repairs, preventative measures, emergency responses, coordination, and safety compliance.
  • Ability to move up to 50lbs and physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, and climbing stairs / ladders with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
  • Experience using powered or non-powered hand tools.
