Role summary

The DevOps Engineer I is responsible for providing production support for multiple products and production lines, focusing on lean manufacturing practices and troubleshooting system failures. This role involves creating and maintaining test automation scripts for hardware systems across Linux, Unix, and Windows environments. Key responsibilities include configuring network, software, and hardware components, supporting product design and integration phases, and providing on-site and remote support to engineering teams. The position requires research into script compatibility, system testing, and troubleshooting automation failures, with a commitment to quality and safety.

Description:

The DevOps Engineer I is responsible for providing production support for multiple products and production lines. Audits processes and creates work instructions that maximize lean manufacturing practices. Troubleshoots component failures and completes analysis and repair of production systems. Supports product design, development, and testing during integration phases.

This position will require specialized education and related experience. Work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.

Essential functions

  • Create scripts that will test, update, and image hardware systems in a production capacity utilizing our test automation platform.
  • Research, design, test, and evaluate current scripts for future compatibility with new end user device equipment and adapt to customers' needs/requirements.
  • Configure network, software, and hardware components to meet internal and client requirements.
  • Provide on-site and remote production line and Manufacturing Engineering team support
  • Design software products from unit to system testing that involved researching requirements, designing test plans, developing automated testing framework, and enhancing automated scripts to provide quality fielded products for the customer.
  • Researching, developing, managing, and maintaining software testing techniques and practices for LINUX/UNIX and Windows environments to ensure high quality solutions.
  • Support design, development and testing of integration phases with engineering and customers as needed.
  • Ability to support clear work instructions for our production teams and engage lean manufacturing practices in how those instructions are ultimately processed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot test automation failures with internal engineering, and customers as needed.
  • Interact regularly with internal clients (Engineering/ Sales Ops/ Management) to determine their requirements and to develop delivery plans and schedules.
  • Experience with “white box” system(s) and Tier 1 suppliers to include Supermicro, Dell, Lenovo and HPE platforms and able to troubleshoot their hardware problems.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills with both phone and email for client hardware support
