Software Engineer, Sr.
Role summary
As a Senior Software Engineer at Centrus Energy, you will be responsible for the software systems that support high-tech enrichment operations in Piketon, OH. This role involves ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical applications, focusing on automation, cybersecurity, and enterprise production systems within a highly regulated, national-security environment. You will administer and optimize the operational software ecosystem, identify improvements, design and develop processes and software, troubleshoot complex issues, manage system validation and audit readiness, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes evaluating and integrating new technologies, managing change control and documentation, and ensuring system performance meets technical best practices and regulatory expectations.

What You Will Do:
You will support the day-to-day administration and optimization of our operational software ecosystem—supporting operations, engineering, quality, and automation platforms to ensure seamless, secure, and reliable plant operations. You’ll identify areas for improvement, responsible for process and software design and development, troubleshoot complex system issues, drive root-cause analysis, manage system validation and audit readiness, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll evaluate and integrate new technologies, manage change control and documentation for your projects, and ensure system performance aligns with technical best practices and regulatory expectations.
We’d Love To Hear From People With:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience supporting software systems in a regulated manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience with system validation, change control, and lifecycle documentation
- Solid background in networking, servers, and cybersecurity best practices
Ability to obtain and maintain a Q-level security clearance
A Successful Candidate Brings:
- Experience with operational and technical best practices
- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Currently holds a “Q” level security clearance.
