Data Engineering Consultant
Role summary
CGI is seeking a Data Engineering Consultant for its Financial Services Sector in Toronto. This hybrid role requires 2-3 days per week in the downtown office. The consultant will be responsible for data engineering, performance optimization, and solutioning high-volume data pipelines. Key requirements include 7+ years of experience, advanced knowledge of GCP data services (DataProc, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud SQL), experience with GCP BigQuery/AWS Redshift, proficiency in Python, ETL/ELT processes, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform. Experience with data streaming technologies like Kafka and Spark-streaming is a plus. The role involves working with business and technical teams to deliver innovative solutions.

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office at a minimum 2 - 3 days per week - subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering, performance optimization for large OLTP / OLAP applications
- Good knowledge on solutioning high volume data pipelines involving millions of records per day
- Advanced level experience and knowledge with the primary managed data services within GCP, including DataProc, Dataflow, BigQuery/DBT, Cloud SQL
- Hands on experience in platforms such as GCP Big Query/ AWS Redshift
- Knowledge on Azure ADF is an asset
- Proficiency in Python, data processing frameworks, and ETL/ELT processes
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and frameworks like Terraform
- Experience with data streaming and technologies such as Kafka, Spark-streaming etc. would be an asset
- Good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively convey ideas to business and technical teams
- CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
