Data Analyst II
to support the Surveillance Branch (SB) within the CDC Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP) by providing programmatic, analytical, and operational support aligned with public health initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Create and submit well-formatted and documented SAS code to conduct quality control and manipulation of data bases including merging, managing, and updating data; generating standard reports; performing data quality reviews; data editing/cleaning; and resolving data quality problems.
  • Create and submit SAS or R code to conduct statistical and epidemiological analyses in support of CDC scientists including frequency analyses, 2X2 analyses, and logistic regression.
  • Perform programming and data management analyses to draft and publish scientific papers.
  • Facilitate acquisitions and renewals of various administrative data sources by developing data request packages and scientific research approvals (e.g., through institutional review boards).
  • Prepare tables and charts for presentations and publications as well as develop data dictionaries and data management documents for HAI studies working in conjunction with principal investigators.
  • Collaborate with diverse groups of epidemiologists, statisticians, programmers, medical officers, and project managers in response to data analytic requests related to the Surveillance Branch’s programmatic mission and HAI program activities.
  • Perform day-to-day project tasks to support Surveillance Branch led and supported projects, ensure objectives are accomplished. Take corrective action based on scientific and technical expertise from CDC Subject Matter Expert.
  • Participate in and/or coordinate meetings, conference calls, webinars, and in-person meetings as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, computer science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in data analysis and programming.
  • Demonstrated experience with SAS and/or R for data management and analysis.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Advanced SAS/R programming for data manipulation (joins, reshaping, macro use) and analysis.
  • Strong QA/QC methodologies for large datasets; experience resolving data anomalies.
  • Familiarity with epidemiologic measures and analytic techniques.
  • Ability to generate publication-quality tables/figures.
  • Experience documenting code, data dictionaries, and workflows.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills in multidisciplinary teams
