Role summary

We are seeking a Junior Analyst / Data Scientist specializing in Power Grid Analytics to support the development and implementation of bus data and load flow modeling solutions. This role involves working with power system modeling, grid analytics, and building scalable workflows for planning and market analysis. Responsibilities include analyzing grid data, assisting in workflow creation for various studies, validating model outputs, and integrating results into internal platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience or familiarity with power systems/load flow modeling, grid fundamentals, and strong analytical skills in Python or Excel. CEII clearance is required.

We are seeking a Junior Analyst / Data Scientist (Power Grid Analytics) to support development and implementation of bus data and load flow modeling solutions on our platform.

This role focuses on power system modeling, grid analytics, and building scalable workflows to support planning and market analysis. You will work directly with grid data, simulation outputs, and internal tools to help operationalize advanced analytics.Responsibilities

  • Work with bus data, network topology, and load flow models to support grid analytics and scenario development
  • Assist in building and maintaining repeatable workflows for screening, constraints analysis, and sensitivity studies
  • Analyze and validate model outputs (e.g., thermal violations, voltage issues, convergence)
  • Support integration of modeling results into internal platforms and tools
  • Collaborate with engineering and data teams to improve data quality and model performance

Required Qualifications

  • Experience or familiarity with power systems / load flow modeling (academic or professional)
  • Understanding of grid fundamentals (buses, lines, constraints, contingencies)
  • Strong analytical skills with Python, Excel, or similar tools
  • Ability to work with structured datasets and interpret model outputs
  • Must be able to obtain or hold CEII clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with tools such as PSS®E, PowerWorld, or similar
  • Exposure to power markets (ERCOT, PJM, etc.)
  • Experience working with large grid datasets or simulation pipelines
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms or data pipelines is a plus

Notes

  • Houston-based candidates are preferred, but strong remote candidates will be considered
  • Candidates with existing clearance or ability to quickly obtain CEII are strongly preferred

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
