Role summary

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the core technical team of a next-generation enterprise imaging platform. This role involves designing, implementing, and deploying core platform components, with a focus on integrating cardiac applications and ensuring robust data connectivity between hospital systems, third-party applications, and AI endpoints. The engineer will be responsible for building resilient ingest and write-back paths, participating in the full SDLC, driving code quality through reviews and testing, and implementing observability features. The ideal candidate has 8-12 years of experience in backend systems (Node.js, PostgreSQL) and modern front-end frameworks (React, TypeScript), with proven expertise in DICOM protocol integration, cloud services (AWS preferred), and secure PHI handling.

### Who you are
- The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, hands-on self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- A strong team player, highly accountable, and committed to high-quality deliverables
- Possesses strong communication skills and a genuine interest in collaborating with third-party development teams as needed
- Experience & Scale: 8–12 years of software engineering experience, with deep expertise in backend systems (Node.js, PostgreSQL) and experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, TypeScript)
- PACS & Cloud Integration: Proven success integrating PACS/DICOM systems with cloud services (AWS preferred) using secure patterns like DICOMweb, presigned URLs, and private networking
- DICOM Protocol Mastery: Expert-level hands-on knowledge of DICOM (C-STORE, C-FIND, C-MOVE), including deep-dive troubleshooting and an understanding of Study/Series/SOP UIDs
- On-Prem Edge Infrastructure: Experience deploying and managing "edge" components via VM/appliance deployments with a focus on outbound-only connectivity
- Data Reliability & Toolkits: Ability to build resilient ingestion and write-back paths (retries, queuing) using standard toolkits like dcm4che, Orthanc, or pydicom
- PHI Security & Compliance: Proven track record of secure PHI handling, including minimization, encryption-at-rest/transit, and strict retention/deletion practices
- Operational Excellence: A strong mindset for production readiness, focusing on observability through logs, metrics, trace IDs, and site support tools
- IHE profiles (e.g., Invoke Image Display) and enterprise imaging integrations
- Familiarity with DICOM-SR/SEG/PR content and validation tooling
- Familiarity with HIPAA/HITRUST security requirements
- Experience with imaging workflows
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
