Role summary

This Data Scientist role focuses on partnering with business stakeholders to identify and develop data science products that deliver tangible business value. The successful candidate will leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI techniques to improve decision-making, workflow, and automation. Key responsibilities include identifying business opportunities, assessing data and technology needs, cleaning and modeling data, managing model lifecycles, and fostering stakeholder engagement. Experience with Generative AI and Agentic solutions is required, along with proficiency in Python, R, and Microsoft Azure. A minimum of 5 years of experience applying data science to real-world business problems is essential.

EXPERIENCE SUMMARY

  • The function of this role is to partner with the business to identify opportunities to apply data science approaches and create data science products that deliver business value.
  • The successful candidate that fills this position will have the skills to identify, prototype, and build data science products.
  • As a Data Scientist, you will: Identify and frame opportunities to apply advanced analytics, modeling, and related technologies to data to help Chevron businesses gain insight and improve decision making, workflow, and automation.
  • Understand value of proposed opportunity.
  • Identify needed data and appropriate technology to solve identified business challenges.
  • Clean data and develop and test models.
  • Establish the life cycle management process for models.
  • Work with team lead to establish business stakeholder engagements to share team s accomplishments and to identify additional opportunities.
  • Provide technical mentoring in modeling and analytics technologies, the specifics of the modeling process, and general consulting skills.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated depth in advanced analytics / data science technologies (e.g., machine learning, operations research, statistics, data mining)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and tools in its ecosystem
  • Proficiency in Python and R.
  • Ability to engage business and technical experts at all organizational levels and assess opportunities to apply data science analytics to improve their workflows, and deliver information and insight to support business decisions.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of midstream.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across functional and geographic areas to plan, facilitate, and develop advanced analytics solutions for key Chevron s key business units and functions.
  • Experience in Generative AI technologies, including building Agentic solutions.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in applying data science, machine learning and AI to real-world business problems.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or Engineering
