Role summary

We are seeking a Level 3 Network Engineer to provide advanced support for corporate Wifi, LAN, MAN, and WAN infrastructures. This role involves collaborating with various teams to design and deploy network solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure adherence to IT policies and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network concepts, protocols, security, and hands-on experience with various networking technologies and tools, including Cisco, Juniper, and automation platforms. Fluency in both French and English is essential for this position.

Here is a brief overview of the tasks and responsibilities:

  • Perform level (2) and (3) support for corporate Wifi, LAN, MAN, and WAN infrastructures according to the required functions;
  • Collaborate with production, architecture, and application support project management teams to gather network requirements to design and deploy network infrastructures that support application, business, and infrastructure;
  • Collaborate with ITP infrastructure engineering and support teams to solve complex, cross-platform problems;
  • Follow ITP guidelines for using service management and network monitoring (NMS) platforms for monitoring, alerting, and tracking incidents;
  • Follow ITP guidelines for asset and configuration management standards;
  • Respect ITP governance to ensure the application of standard practices within the team, including security and corporate IT policies and procedures;
  • Work closely with peers to ensure that locally and globally established technology standards are set and rigorously adhered to;
  • Design and implement new networks or improve existing ones according to project guidelines;
  • Proactively review the environment and recommend projects based on capacity monitoring, resiliency levels, previous expertise, material knowledge and risk assessment;
  • Participate in guard rotation for after-hours escalations for the duration of projects;
  • Master and enforce ITP policies and procedures.

The profile we are looking for is as follows:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in computer science, information technology or relevant/equivalent experience in IT and networking;
  • Experience and understanding of multiple operating systems, NMS and automation tools, and platforms, including Zabbix, ServiceNow, HP Network Automation, Windows, Linux, Ansible, and Python;
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, including charts, VLOOKUP functions, and pivot tables;
  • Demonstrate rigor and good organizational skills;
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a global multidisciplinary team;
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills as well as the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies;
  • Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to create and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams;
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of network concepts, including TCP/IP and UDP, network ports and protocols, IP addressing, and subnetting;
  • Understand network security controls, Zero Trust architecture, and DDoS mitigation mechanisms;
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting using packet captures (Wireshark/tcpdump), telemetry, and system logs;
  • Possess a thorough understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals and detailed knowledge of network technologies including Metro Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, DWDM and TDM;
  • Master routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VXLAN, DHCP and DNS;
  • Demonstrate a detailed understanding of IP Multicast, PIM, IGMP and MSDP;
  • Have hands-on experience with ADVA optical systems supporting 10G, 40G, 100G and Fibre Channel technologies;
  • Have extensive knowledge of Cisco products, including Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching platforms, Cisco ISR and ASR routing platforms, and Juniper EX switches;
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Communicate effectively in order to popularize technical concepts to business stakeholders;
  • Be able to work under pressure during critical incidents affecting operations;
  • This position requires fluency in French and English for daily tasks, understanding documentation, and professional communication with customers, suppliers, and colleagues across Canada. Language skills in French and English are essential, both oral and written.
