Role summary
Cognizant Consulting is seeking a Product Owner Consultant specializing in Payments to join their Chicago-based team. This hybrid role involves owning the payment product lifecycle from ideation to post-launch optimization. Responsibilities include defining product vision, creating requirements (user stories, BRDs), and acting as a liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams. The ideal candidate will have 2-6 years of experience in financial services, hands-on payments experience, a strong technical background, and proven success in building and launching products end-to-end within Agile/Scrum environments. The role requires on-site presence in Chicago 5 days a week for close collaboration.

### About the Role
As a Product Owner Consultant – Payments, you will make an impact by owning and driving delivery of payment products from ideation through post-launch. You will translate business needs into well-defined requirements, partner with engineering and design teams, and ensure solutions align to business objectives, regulatory standards, and customer value.
### In this Role, You Will
- Own and manage the product lifecycle from concept through launch and post-release optimization.
- Define product vision, roadmap, and priorities aligned to Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Create and maintain user stories, epics, and Business Requirements Documents (BRDs).
- Gather functional, technical, and non-functional requirements through stakeholder interviews.
- Design workflows, business rules, and system integration diagrams.
- Act as primary liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams (engineering, QA, UX, architects).
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Systems Architects on new and enhanced features.
- Track delivery progress using agile metrics such as velocity and burndown charts.
- Evaluate As-Is and To-Be processes to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Validate features for release, publish release notes, and contribute to training materials.
### Work Model
This role requires on-site presence in Chicago, IL all 5 days. Candidates must be comfortable working on-site to enable close collaboration with stakeholders and delivery teams.
### What You Must Have to Be Considered
- 2–6 years of experience in banking or financial services.
- Hands-on payments experience, preferably as a Product Owner.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum and lean delivery environments.
- Strong technical background with ability to understand system and integration details.
- Proven experience building and launching products end-to-end.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and navigate ambiguity.

- Exposure to card payments, ACH, RTP, wires, or digital payment platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership presence.
### Compensation (Pay Transparency)
Salary range $70,000 – $80,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the terms of applicable plans.
