We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to own and evolve our core cross‑reference (Xref) architecture. In this role, you will manage several mission‑critical and highly leveraged data feeds that power key business functions across the organization. You will also partner closely with engineering and data teams to streamline data onboarding and data delivery.
Job Summary
As a Principal Backend Software Engineer on the Cross Reference team, you will build and enhance the core cross-reference architecture, including the symbols and search capabilities that power cross-reference data for high-profile clients across the financial industry. Cross Reference is focused on modern, scalable systems that support enterprise-wide cross-reference and search functionality. The team also plays a strategic role in designing complex new data repositories that ensure long-term architectural integrity.
In this role, you will engineer backend solutions that are secure, performant, compliant, scalable, and maintainable, contributing directly to foundational systems leveraged across the organization. As part of Communify, you will partner closely with Product Managers and Backend Engineering teams to deliver high-quality capabilities that enable efficient data linkage, fast search performance, and consistent experiences for internal and external clients. You will bring technical depth, architectural thinking, and a mindset of continual improvement to help shape the future of enterprise data connectivity.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of backend Software development experience
- Expert in one (or more) of the following layers:
- Node.js, Express, REST APIs, Swagger, OpenAPI
- Elastic Search
- ETL, SQL, tSQLt, SSMS, XML, S3, Verity, NoSQL
- Expert in modern best practices for source control, CI/CD, test automation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
- Experience working in an Agile or Lean development environment
- Ability and flexibility to be on-call for production incident escalation
- Strong written and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modern DevOps and observability tools like Python, Jenkins, Nomad, Consul, Rundeck, Chef, Nexus, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry
- Experience with the Atlassian stack with tools like Jira and Confluence
- Knowledge of OOP/OOD, design patterns, and SOLID
- Experience in financial services related to Wealth Management, Asset Management, Advised Investing, or Direct Investing
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 annualized
