Role summary

Cortica is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its Finance team. This role involves processing full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for an expanding workforce, researching and resolving payroll inquiries, and verifying employee expense reimbursements. The specialist will also serve as a point of contact for payroll tax inquiries and audits, and drive process improvements and system implementations. The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Accounting, or Business, with 3+ years of progressive payroll processing experience, including multi-state payroll and compliance. Familiarity with UKG is required, and implementation experience is a plus. The role requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects with a high level of integrity and discretion.

What will you do?

  • Process full-cycle payroll for assigned entities on a bi-weekly basis for an expanding workforce 
  • Research and resolve payroll related questions and issues; explain payroll policies and procedures and provide outstanding customer service 
  • Verify and process employee expense reimbursements 
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external payroll tax related inquires and audits
  • Continuously drive improvements, automation, communication, and education to improve employee experience
  • Assist with the implementation of new payroll systems or updating existing systems to meet business needs
  • Upgrade process and procedures as company scales to integrate with latest technology
  • We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You possess a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).  
  • You bring 3+ years of progressive payroll processing experience.  
  • You have experience with multi-state payroll and familiarity with new-state registration set-up and compliance.
  • You have solid working knowledge of UKG (implementation experience a plus!) and the aptitude to learn new systems.
  • You can work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects.
  • You demonstrate high level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.

According to your skill level, relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.
