Role summary

A cutting-edge indoor agriculture company is seeking an Industrial Automation Engineer to drive innovation in vertical farming. This role involves leading the design, development, and commissioning of automation and robotics systems, including PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and safety systems. Responsibilities include programming robotic operations, designing automation systems using CAD, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's in a relevant engineering field, 3+ years of experience in industrial automation and system integration, and proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (Allen-Bradley required), motion control, SCADA, and Python or C++. Experience with robot end effector design, CAD, and prototyping is also essential. While not strictly required, leadership and team management experience are highly desirable.

Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead design, development, and commissioning of automation and robotics systems, including PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and safety systems.
  • Program and optimize robotic operations and control logic (Allen-Bradley, Ignition, Yaskawa/Fanuc/KUKA).
  • Design, model, and prototype automation systems using 2D/3D CAD; support integration with SCADA and data acquisition tools.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Operations, and Plant Science teams to define system requirements.
  • Manage vendors and integrators, oversee testing, and troubleshoot systems onsite as needed.
  • Lead small teams and mentor engineers, providing guidance and performance support.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, or Robotics Engineering.
  • 3+ years in industrial automation, and system integration.
  • Strong PLC/HMI skills (Allen-Bradley required), motion control, pneumatics, SCADA, and industrial networking.
  • Hands-on experience with robot end effector design, CAD, prototyping, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficient in Python or C++.
