Role summary

Our client is seeking a remote Cloud Engineer with a focus on Developer Experience for a 12-month contract. This role involves building and scaling a Continuous Infrastructure Automation platform for multi-cloud environments to enhance developer productivity. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and operationalizing cloud workloads, troubleshooting issues, and contributing to a Developer Experience platform with self-service tools and AI-driven developer tools. The role requires collaboration to drive standardization and best practices in cloud engineering.

Overview
Join our clients newly formed Cloud Engineering team as a Cloud Engineer – Developer Experience, where you’ll play a key role in driving enterprise-wide cloud adoption. This team is responsible for building and scaling a Continuous Infrastructure Automation platform that supports multi-cloud environments and enhances developer productivity.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as a consultative partner to application teams, enabling delivery of applications and services across multi-cloud environments
Design, implement, and operationalize cloud workloads, including monitoring, logging, backup/recovery, and security
Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues for internal stakeholders
Contribute to the development of a Developer Experience platform and self-service infrastructure automation tools
Support the creation of AI-driven developer tools and a centralized portal (“single pane of glass”) for managing development workflows
Collaborate across teams to drive standardization, automation, and best practices in cloud engineering

Required Qualifications

3+ years of professional experience in cloud engineering or related field
Strong experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure (5+ years preferred)
Hands-on experience with containerization and Kubernetes (EKS, AKS)
Proficiency in one or more programming languages:
Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
Experience with Azure DevOps or similar git-based repository tools
Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture (containers, serverless, microservices)
Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (load balancers, WAFs, NSGs, etc.)
Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, DevOps, and ITIL practices
