Role summary

Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced
DevOps / GitHub Platform Engineer
to support enterprise-wide software development initiatives within a large public-sector environment.
This role combines
systems analysis, platform governance, and DevSecOps enablement
, with a strong focus on managing and optimizing
GitHub Enterprise
environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in
CI/CD automation, security, compliance, and developer enablement
to standardize and scale engineering practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Administration & Governance
- Administer and manage
GitHub Enterprise (Cloud or Server)
environments at scale
- Define and enforce
governance standards
, access controls, and repository strategies
- Implement and manage
RBAC, SAML/SSO integrations
, and branch protection policies
- Conduct
access reviews, audit logging, and compliance reporting
DevSecOps & CI/CD Enablement
- Design and maintain
GitHub Actions workflows
using YAML for CI/CD automation
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines with
cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Implement
DevSecOps best practices
, including automated security checks
- Utilize
GitHub Advanced Security
(CodeQL, secret scanning, etc.)
Automation & Scripting
- Develop automation using
Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Improve operational efficiency through scripting and workflow optimization
Systems Analysis & Collaboration
- Analyze business and technical requirements to recommend scalable solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve software delivery processes
- Document system capabilities, workflows, and developer guidelines
Standards & Enablement
- Create and maintain
developer documentation and governance frameworks
- Lead
technical enablement sessions
and support adoption of best practices
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience with
Git-based version control administration
- 8+ years managing
GitHub Enterprise (Cloud or Server)
- Strong expertise in:
- RBAC, SAML/SSO, and branch protection strategies
- GitHub Actions and CI/CD automation
- DevSecOps implementation within pipelines
- Audit logging, compliance, and access governance
- Experience integrating CI/CD with
cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Proficiency in
Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting
- Hands-on experience with
GitHub Advanced Security tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with
Infrastructure as Code
(Terraform, Bicep)
- Knowledge of
policy-as-code frameworks
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills
- Experience delivering
developer training or enablement sessions
Work Environment & Additional Details
- Hybrid role:
2 days onsite (Mon & Thurs), 3 days remote
- Candidates must already reside in Texas (no relocation candidates)
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required with prior approval
- Travel expenses (if any) are not reimbursed unless pre-approved
