Role summary

We are seeking a Staff QA Lead to establish and elevate the quality standards within our product and engineering teams. As the first dedicated QA hire, you will have the unique opportunity to shape our testing strategy, tools, and processes from the ground up. This role requires extensive experience in designing and implementing automated test frameworks, defining mobile testing strategies, and expanding test coverage across various testing types. You will integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and own critical quality gates. Expertise in PHP, Laravel, frontend/backend testing, CI/CD, and mobile testing is essential, along with knowledge of fintech compliance and mentorship experience.

About the Role:

We’re hiring a Staff QA Lead, to elevate the quality bar across our product and engineering organization. This is a foundational role as the first dedicated QA hire, offering the opportunity to shape tools, processes, and testing strategy from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement automated test frameworks
Define and execute mobile testing strategies
Expand test coverage across API, end-to-end, load, and security testing
Integrate testing into SDLC and CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, security, and product teams
Own quality gates and testing domains

Required Qualifications:

8+ years in software quality engineering
Experience building QA systems from scratch
Expertise in PHP and Laravel (Pest/PHP Unit)
Experience with AI tools (LLMs, AI IDEs)
Strong frontend and backend testing experience (Vue, Cypress, Playwright)
CI/CD and DevOps familiarity (GCP, GitLab)
Mobile testing experience (iOS & Android)
Knowledge of fintech compliance (PCI DSS)
Mentorship and leadership experience
Strong communication and strategic thinking

Custom tooling/plugins for IDEs
Agentic QA workflows
Advanced Laravel testing tools (Laravel Dusk)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
Performance testing (k6, Locust)
Open-source contributions
