Overview
This is a Senior Platform Engineering role within a rapidly scaling generative AI company building mission-critical infrastructure for life sciences and pharmaceutical organizations.
The platform integrates large-scale biomedical datasets and deploys domain-specific AI agents to power end-to-end workflows across research, regulatory, and clinical environments.
This role is focused on architecting secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure capable of supporting high concurrency, enterprise-grade reliability, and regulatory compliance.
You will operate at the foundation of the company's technical stack—owning core infrastructure systems that enable global expansion in a highly regulated industry.
Core Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain secure AWS cloud environments supporting high-traffic workloads
  • Design scalable multi-tenant cloud architectures with strong isolation and reliability guarantees
  • Optimize VPC architecture, networking configurations, and IAM policies

Kubernetes & Deployment Systems

  • Design, maintain, and scale Kubernetes clusters
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines supporting reliable and repeatable deployments
  • Oversee secure deployments within client-controlled or regulated environments

Data & Performance Optimization

  • Manage and optimize databases including RDS and vector databases for performance and reliability
  • Improve infrastructure observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting systems
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and production resilience

Security & Compliance

  • Implement cloud security best practices aligned with regulated environments (e.g., healthcare/biotech)
  • Continuously improve infrastructure security posture and risk mitigation practices
  • Support compliance requirements across enterprise and regulated customers

Scale & Cost Efficiency

  • Optimize infrastructure cost, scalability, and performance
  • Support product growth from early adoption to 10,000+ users and beyond

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience (open to exceptional new graduates with strong technical depth)
  • Strong experience with AWS, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code tooling
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong understanding of VPC architecture, networking, and multi-tenant cloud environments
  • Experience implementing cloud security best practices
  • Willingness to work Sunday–Thursday schedule (10 AM – 8 PM, core 10 AM – 6 PM)
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area
