Role summary

Decilog is seeking a US citizen Software Development Engineer for their Melville, NY team. This full-time, hybrid role involves developing high-quality, scalable, and testable software applications using multiple programming languages, with a strong emphasis on Ada. Responsibilities include analyzing requirements, designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting software. The role operates within CMMI-level 5 processes and requires adherence to Department of Defense regulations, including potential security clearance application. Experience with Java and C++ is a plus.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing high-quality software applications. They will also be responsible for designing and implementing testable and scalable code.

Decilog is currently interviewing candidates for a Software Development Engineer (must be a US citizen) to join our Melville NY, teams developing special software applications in the multiple programming languages. The candidate’s primary role is software programming, developing production quality software based on predefined software requirements and design. The candidate will review, analyze and modify programming systems to include designing, coding, testing, debugging, installing and documenting to support the organization's software applications.

The candidate will implement software development in accordance with process improvement procedures established and maintained by the organization. Using primarily the Ada programming language and the CReATE and SAFe software project and development tools, assignments involve the development of new code and methods, as well as enhancements, modifications, and corrections to existing software applications. The project currently employs the use of Ada programming language heavily; experience with Ada is a big plus; but the project efforts could include migration to new languages and platforms and so Java and C++ programming experience, as well as potentially other languages is a plus.

Duties include software design of components, modules and/or applications, programming, implementing and unit testing, and documenting work and results. Support of component and system-level testing efforts is also included. All development processes used are rated CMMI-level 5 and, therefore well-defined with powerful, feature-rich project and software development tools. The candidate will be expected to possess or acquire any certifications or training required by Department of Defense regulations. If any requirement has not been satisfied, the candidate will be expected to obtain the necessary credentials within the grace period allowed by the DoD. We are seeking candidates with a solid computer science or engineering B.S. degree and demonstrable Ada programming know-how.
