Role summary
Defense Unicorns is seeking a Junior IT Security Engineer to provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT support, manage IT assets, and administer user access. This role involves collaborating with vendors and internal teams on SaaS tools and supporting security controls aligned with NIST SP 800-171, including logging, SIEM, incident response, and configuration management. The position also assists with security event triage and Third Party Risk Management reviews. The ideal candidate has experience in IT help desk or system administration, familiarity with tools like Google Workspace and Slack, and experience with macOS, Windows, or Linux. Familiarity with NIST frameworks and SIEM/MDM solutions is preferred. This is a remote role requiring U.S. citizenship and eligibility for CUI access.

Role Description:
We are seeking a Junior IT Security Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will enable Unicorn Engineers to do their best work, with a focus on balancing the Engineer experience with a strong company-wide Information Technology Security posture. A primary focus of this role is delivering Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT support, serving as the first point of contact for technical issues and escalating or resolving more complex requests, while contributing to broader security and compliance initiatives.
