Role summary
Demotu is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join their lean, fast-moving team in Folsom, CA. This is a hybrid role focused on scaling an existing, live product that uses AI-powered movement analysis for gyms and performance organizations. The engineer will own features end-to-end across React Native, Django, and React, make architectural decisions, and improve development workflows. The ideal candidate has 1+ years of experience, is proficient in at least two of the core technologies, and actively uses AI coding tools. Company Description
Demotu turns movement analysis into revenue and consistency for gyms and performance organizations. We use mobile-based, 3D markerless movement analysis to assess how athletes and clients move, then use AI to turn that data into actionable training programs at scale. The result is faster assessments, more confident programming, higher close rates on training, and consistent delivery across trainers, teams, and locations.
This is not a zero-to-one role. Our product is already live, in use, and scaling. We have active deployments across multi-location fitness brands and a major global franchise rollout underway, representing a multi-million dollar expansion as we grow. We’re past the “figuring out what to build” stage and focused on scaling what already works.
We’re a lean team of five (including two technical co-founders), which means high ownership and fast decision-making without layers of process. Our stack is React Native, Django, and React, and you’d be our first US engineering hire. This isn’t a “join a 50-person eng team and own one microservice” role. You’ll work directly with the founders, ship across the entire stack, and own meaningful parts of the product as we scale.
What You'll Do
- Own features end-to-end: scoping, building, shipping, and maintaining across mobile (React Native), backend (Django), and web (React)
- Take major workstreams off the founder's plate so they can focus on growth
- Make architectural decisions from the ground up that will scale to hundreds of thousands of users. You'll have the autonomy and the accountability.
- Improve our development workflows, CI/CD, testing, and infrastructure as we grow
- Maximize usage of AI-assisted development tools (Codex, Claude, OpenClaw etc.) to move fast. We ship faster than our competitors and intend to keep it that way.
What We're Looking For
- In-Person/Hybrid Work in Folsom, CA
- 1+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software across frontend and backend
- Strong with at least two of: React Native, React, Django/Python, and willing to go deep on the third
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving environment with minimal process and maximum ownership
- Already using AI coding tools in your daily workflow.
- Someone who sees a bug in production and fixes it because it bothers them, not because someone asked
Nice to Have
- Experience at an early-stage startup or as a solo/lead dev on a product
- Familiarity with mobile app deployment
- Cloud Infra comfort (AWS, GCP, or similar)
Compensation
- $100,000 to $130,000 base salary
- Meaningful Equity
- Ground-floor role with a clear path to engineering leadership
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
