Role summary

We are seeking a Data Scientist to solve operational challenges using applied machine learning, optimization, and analytics. This role involves transforming ambiguous business questions into scalable models, algorithms, and decision support systems. You will collaborate with operations, engineering, and product teams to create practical, accurate, and explainable solutions, balancing performance with real-world constraints. Key responsibilities include building and deploying predictive models, developing optimization algorithms, designing experiments, and partnering with engineers for production deployment. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in data science or a related field, with demonstrated experience in ML, OR, or simulation, and a strong ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

About the Role
We're hiring a
Data Scientist
who can solve real operational problems with a mix of
applied machine learning, optimization, and analytics
. This role is for someone who likes taking ambiguous business questions (time prediction, routing, replenishment, demand estimation, warehouse performance) and turning them into
models, algorithms, and decision support
that can be deployed and used at scale.
You'll work closely with operations, engineering, and product stakeholders to design solutions that are accurate, explainable, and practical—balancing model performance with latency, maintainability, and business adoption.
Key Responsibilities

  • Build and deploy predictive models for operational planning and execution (e.g., cycle time, throughput, labor/time estimation, service levels)
  • Develop and improve optimization and decision algorithms (e.g., routing, replenishment, inventory positioning, parameter estimation)
  • Design experiments and evaluation frameworks to validate impact (accuracy, latency, cost reduction, productivity lift)
  • Translate business workflows into model-ready problem statements, features, and measurable success criteria
  • Partner with software engineers to ensure solutions are production-ready (reliable inference, monitoring, versioning, performance tuning)
  • Create clear documentation and stakeholder-ready summaries of methodology, assumptions, and results
  • Contribute to architecture and scaling decisions for data/ML solutions (performance, robustness, and maintainability)

Experience (Required)

- 3+ years
in data science / applied research / analytics engineering (or equivalent), delivering models or algorithms used in real workflows
- Demonstrated experience in at least one of:

- Applied ML
for operational prediction (time, demand, performance, risk)
- Operations research / optimization
(routing, scheduling, inventory, network/warehouse optimization)
- Simulation-based analysis
for operational decision-making

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and driving work from problem definition through delivery

Skills (Preferred)

  • Supply chain / distribution center / manufacturing operations domain experience
  • Optimization tooling experience (e.g., CPLEX or similar solvers)
  • Experience balancing accuracy with low-latency inference and real-world constraints
  • Strong communication skills: can explain tradeoffs and results to technical and non-technical partners
