We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Data Engineer with strong expertise in Java and Apache Kafka to support the development of scalable, real-time data platforms within a healthcare environment. This role requires a blend of backend engineering, data pipeline development, and front-end exposure to build high-throughput, event-driven systems. The engineer will design, develop, and maintain full stack applications, build real-time data pipelines using Kafka, develop backend services with Java and Spring Boot, and collaborate on integrating data pipelines. Experience with distributed systems, APIs, databases, and cloud platforms like AWS is essential. Familiarity with healthcare data standards and front-end frameworks is preferred.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced
Full Stack Data Engineer
with strong expertise in
Java and Apache Kafka
to support the development of scalable, real-time data platforms within a healthcare environment. This role requires a blend of backend engineering, data pipeline development, and front-end exposure to build high-throughput, event-driven systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications for data ingestion, processing, and visualization
- Build and manage real-time data pipelines using
Apache Kafka
and event-driven architecture
- Develop backend services and APIs using
Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks)
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate streaming and batch data pipelines
- Develop or support UI components using
React, Angular, or similar frameworks
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across distributed systems
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate healthcare data requirements into technical solutions

Required Qualifications

- 8–10 years of full stack development experience
- Strong proficiency in
Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture
- Hands-on experience with
Apache Kafka
(producers, consumers, streams, event-driven design)
- Experience building scalable, distributed systems and real-time data pipelines
- Knowledge of
REST APIs, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud platforms (
AWS preferred
)
- Strong understanding of
SQL and NoSQL databases
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment supporting EST hours

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in the
healthcare domain
(HIPAA, PHI, clinical or claims data)
- Familiarity with
FHIR, HL7, or other healthcare data standards
- Exposure to modern front-end frameworks (
React, Angular, Vue
)
- Experience with
CI/CD tools and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of data platforms such as
Databricks or Apache Spark

Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment
