Location

This is a primarily remote position. Candidates must be located in the United States and able to work Pacific Time business hours. Occasional travel (up to 10%) may be required for meetings in California and limited client site visits.

Job Overview
Eaton & Associates is seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure (Systems, Network, and Cloud) Engineer to join our team. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role serves as a technical escalation point for Helpdesk, Engineers, and NOC staff. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly skilled across systems, network, and cloud technologies, and able to support both ongoing operations and client projects. This position supports multiple client environments in an MSP setting, requiring strong troubleshooting skills and excellent documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize client network, systems, and cloud infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, servers, and cloud services.
  • Respond to escalations from Helpdesk or NOC staff and troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, or cloud-related issues.
  • Administer and support cloud infrastructure and services across platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, including hybrid and cloud-connected environments.
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledgebase articles.
  • Participate in client projects, upgrades, migrations, and system deployments.
  • Design and implement network, systems, and cloud architectures aligned with client business and security requirements.
  • Perform periodic maintenance, patching, and upgrades during scheduled client windows.
  • Participate in on-call rotation (priority-one issues only) or planned escalation periods.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for architectures, workflows, and technical solutions for internal teams and clients.
  • Implement security measures, patches, and vulnerability remediation in collaboration with InfoSec.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in systems, network, and cloud engineering, preferably in an MSP, consulting, or multi-client environment.
  • Extensive experience configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, and VPN technologies.
  • Proficient knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Experience managing network services including DNS, NTP, and DHCP.
  • Strong virtualization experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or hyper-converged infrastructure platforms.
  • Cloud infrastructure and application experience (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications are highly preferred but not required, including:

VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Cisco Certified Network Associate / Professional (CCNA / CCNP / CCIE), AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud certifications

Base Salary: $100,000-$125,000 depending on experience and geographic location. Eligible for a technical bonus program based on paid client service hours and performance.
