Electrical Power Test Engineer
Role summary
The Electrical Power Test Engineer will be responsible for executing specialized testing procedures on DC/DC power converters, ensuring accurate data documentation and adherence to laboratory safety protocols. This role involves operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, assembling and troubleshooting test fixtures, and collaborating with automation engineers and cross-functional teams to develop test automation tools and evaluate new technologies. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a Power Electronics/Electrical Engineering technical environment. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in power electronic laboratory measurement techniques, Linux environments, scripting languages like Python, and interpreting electrical schematics.
Responsibilities:
- Strictly adhere to laboratory safety protocols, especially when handling high-voltag devices and equipment.
- Execute specialized testing procedures, ensuring accurate and consistent data documentation.
- Conduct characterization tests on DC/DC power converters on-board, aligning with
- engineering test plans and design requirements.
- Assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot test fixtures as needed.
- Operate and maintain essential laboratory equipment, including AC/DC power supplies,
- Grid Simulators, Oscilloscopes, and Probes.
- Oversee general laboratory upkeep, ensuring an organized, safe, and compliant environment.
- Collaborate with system automation engineers to develop tools for test automation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and power test teams to understand application
- requirements and evaluate/adopt new technologies.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for all test systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in a Power Electronics/Electrical Engineering technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in power electronic laboratory measurement techniques and equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, high power supplies/loads).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional project teams.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Understanding of power electronics technologies, testing and pack failure modes and effective mitigation strategies is a plus
- Demonstrated proficiency in Linux-based environments to facilitate test automation,
- including the application of shell scripting for executing workloads on ASICs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in analyzing Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts and design
- files to precisely identify critical test points and provide expert assistance in hardware diagnostics and resolution.
- Expertise in leveraging laboratory apparatus, specialized software, and power vendor
- Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) to conduct thorough root-cause analysis and resolve issues related to power systems and test fixtures.
- Advanced knowledge of scripting languages such as Python for test automation is a plus.
- Knowledge of power electronics and various power conversion designs for data center power delivery is a plus.
