About The Role
The Senior Product Designer, UX/UI will lead user-centered research and design for Equality Health’s CareEmpower platform and other related product suites. This role is responsible for translating complex, multi-role value-based care workflows into intuitive, role-based product experiences that improve usability, adoption, and operational outcomes.
This individual is not only a strong UI designer, but a product-minded partner who shapes problem definition, validates solutions through research, and collaborates closely with Product, Engineering, Clinical Operations, and Data teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end UX/UI for key workflow experiences, from discovery, research and concepting through high-fidelity design, delivery support, and post-launch iteration.
- Drive role-based experiences for a multi-role application: define information architecture, navigation, and UI patterns that help each user role quickly accomplish their work with minimal cognitive load.
- Plan and conduct user research (interviews, contextual inquiry/shadowing, usability testing, diary studies as appropriate) with clinical and operational end users; synthesize insights into clear opportunities and product recommendations.
- Partner with Product Management to define personas, Jobs-to-Be-Done, journey maps, and success metrics; ensure design decisions connect to measurable outcomes.
- Use qualitative and quantitative inputs (product analytics, funnel data, support tickets, session replays, stakeholder feedback) to identify friction points and prioritize design improvements.
- Create deliverables including sketches, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups; produce implementation-ready specs and annotations for Engineering.
- Partner with Engineering to ensure faithful implementation; participate in design QA, validate accessibility, and iterate based on user feedback and production learnings.
- Support experimentation: collaborate with Product/Data to design A/B tests, define user groupings/segments, and interpret results to drive iterative improvement.
- Contribute to and evolve a scalable design system (components, patterns, guidelines) that improves consistency across CareEmpower and other internal tools.
- Apply accessibility and inclusive design best practices.
- Design with healthcare privacy and security expectations in mind; collaborate with Compliance and Security to support least-privilege, role-based access, and audit-friendly workflows.
- Provide UX research and design support for other products and business systems as needed (e.g., Salesforce workflows for care operations, practice enablement, and customer support).
- Communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders; facilitate workshops and working sessions to drive alignment and decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum six (6) years of experience in UX/Product Design, including ownership of complex, workflow-heavy web applications with multiple user roles.
- Demonstrated strength in user research methods (qualitative and quantitative): creating research plans, recruiting/partnering with participants, conducting studies, and synthesizing findings into actionable insights.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work (problem framing, workflows, interaction design, visual design) and measurable impact on user outcomes and/or business metrics.
- High proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) and strong understanding of design systems and component-based design.
- Experience working in agile product teams and collaborating closely with Product and Engineering to deliver shippable work in iterative cycles.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to influence without authority and align diverse stakeholders around a shared solution.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Healthcare, health-tech experience, with familiarity designing clinical and/or care management workflows.
- Experience designing role-based products (permissions-aware UI, specialized navigation by role, configurable workflows) in enterprise SaaS environments.
- Experience partnering with Data/Analytics teams to define instrumentation, analyze behavior, and run A/B tests or structured usability experiments.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and experience designing and validating accessible digital experiences.
- Experience designing for or improving CRM and operational tooling (e.g., Salesforce), including case management, outreach, and workflow automation.
- Familiarity with interoperability and healthcare data concepts (EHR workflows, HL7/FHIR) is a plus but not required.
