About Us: Ev Design is a digital product and web development studio focused on delivering high-quality, user-centered web applications. We collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and build maintainable, performant, and accessible solutions for a diverse set of clients and projects. As a small, collaborative studio of experienced practitioners, we prioritize clear communication, craft, and measurable outcomes.

Role overview: The Front End Web Developer will design and implement user-facing interfaces for web applications, working closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers. This role is responsible for building accessible, responsive, and performant front-end code, contributing to component libraries and design systems, and maintaining high standards for code quality and maintainability across client and internal projects.

  • Translate designs and interaction specifications into clean, reusable, and testable front-end code.
  • Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces that meet WCAG and cross‑browser compatibility requirements.
  • Build and maintain component libraries or design system assets to support consistent UI and faster delivery.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to define front-end requirements and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Optimize client-side performance, including bundle size, rendering performance, and load-time optimizations.
  • Implement and maintain front-end build pipelines, linting, and automated tests.
  • Integrate front-end applications with backend APIs and CMS platforms, ensuring secure and reliable data flows.
  • Participate in code reviews, contribute to technical documentation, and produce runbooks or handoffs as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, and contribute to incident post-mortems and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications:

  • Proven experience building production front-end web applications using modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Practical experience with a modern front-end framework or library (examples: React, Vue, Svelte) and component-based development.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, semantic markup, and accessibility best practices (WCAG).
  • Familiarity with state management patterns, client-side routing, and component composition.
  • Experience with version control (Git) and collaboration workflows.
  • Experience writing automated tests for UI components and front-end behavior (unit and integration testing).
  • Knowledge of front-end build tools and bundlers (examples: Webpack, Vite) and familiarity with optimizing build pipelines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small, cross-functional team and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with TypeScript in front-end projects.
  • Familiarity with server-side rendering or hybrid rendering frameworks (examples: Next.js) and static site generators.
  • Experience integrating with headless CMS platforms and GraphQL APIs.
  • Prior work on design systems, accessibility audits, or performance profiling at scale.
  • Familiarity with animation libraries, progressive web app (PWA) features, or advanced performance tooling.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Flexible or hybrid work arrangements where applicable.
  • Opportunities for professional development and training.
  • Collaborative team environment with emphasis on knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
