Senior Test Automation Engineer
We are seeking a
Senior Test Automation Engineer
to own, evolve, and scale our automation ecosystem across a mission-critical Fintech platform. This role blends
pure automation
,
SDET-level engineering depth
, and
platform-level infrastructure ownership
. You will design and maintain automation frameworks, build test tooling, integrate deeply with CI/CD, and ensure our systems are validated with speed, reliability, and engineering rigor.
You’ll work in a
PCI-DSS Level 1
environment, supporting a Node.js/React architecture deployed on AWS. You’ll pair with engineers, practice TDD, and leverage AI-augmented tooling (Claude Code) to accelerate high-quality delivery. This role is central to reducing manual regression cycles, supporting product expansion, and replacing legacy manual testing with scalable automation.
Key Responsibilities
Automation Framework Ownership
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks.
- Build reusable test libraries, utilities, and harnesses for UI, API, and integration testing.
- Drive the implementation of automated test frameworks with a focus on reliability, maintainability, and performance.
SDET-Level Engineering
- Write high-quality, testable JavaScript/TypeScript code to validate complex system behaviors.
- Build custom automation tooling, mocks, stubs, and data generators.
- Contribute to testability improvements across the monolith through code reviews and pairing.
Platform-Level Test Infrastructure
- Own test execution pipelines in GitLab CI/CD.
- Maintain Dockerized test environments and ephemeral test infrastructure.
- Integrate automated tests into deployment workflows to ensure fast, stable releases.
- Collaborate with DevOps to optimize test performance and environment reliability.
- Own / support manual testing where required in key functional areas where automation is lacking.
API, Performance, and Mobile Testing
- Build and maintain API test suites using Postman, REST Assured, Karate, or custom harnesses.
- Implement performance and load testing using Artillery.
- Support mobile/browser compatibility testing via BrowserStack.
Compliance-Aware Testing
- Produce test artifacts aligned with PCI-DSS Level 1 expectations.
- Ensure automated tests generate reliable, reviewable evidence for auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Apply secure testing practices (API keys, whitelisting, environment isolation).
Ways of Working
- Participate in a pairing culture with engineers and QA peers.
- Practice TDD and contribute to a two-week release cadence.
- Participate in on-call rotation as part of shared engineering responsibility.
- Use Jira extensively for test planning, execution, and traceability.
- Leverage AI-augmented tooling (Claude Code) to accelerate test creation and maintenance.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in test automation or SDET roles.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Deep experience with Cypress and working knowledge of Playwright (or strong desire to adopt it).
- Strong API testing experience (Postman, REST Assured, Karate, or equivalent).
- Experience with performance testing tools (Artillery preferred).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, EC2, EKS, SQS, DynamoDB, RDS).
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD and Docker.
- Strong understanding of testing strategies for cloud platform architectures.
- Ability to produce clean, auditable test artifacts suitable for regulated environments.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort pairing with engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing automation frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Playwright).
- Experience with AI-augmented testing tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, etc.).
- Experience in Fintech, payments, or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code concepts.
- Experience with BrowserStack or similar mobile/browser testing platforms.
Why This Role Exists
We are strengthening our automation capabilities. This role is essential to:
- Reduce manual regression cycles
- Build a scalable, modern automation platform
- Support rapid product expansion
- Replace manual testing with reliable, maintainable automation
