About The Role
The Software Engineer role at Raytheon is a vital position within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, located onsite in Tucson, AZ. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on real-time embedded software, application software, and tools that are integral to missile systems, radars, naval systems, and other sophisticated defense technologies. As part of a dynamic, agile team, you will contribute to designing, developing, and testing software solutions that support national security missions. Your efforts will help integrate operating systems, device drivers, networking, and control software to enable sensor, guidance, and flight control functionalities. This position is ideal for a motivated individual eager to apply their technical skills in a high-stakes environment, working on projects that have a direct impact on safeguarding the nation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and have at least two years of relevant experience. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Java is essential. Candidates must have experience with the integration of real-time software, firmware, and hardware components. An active and transferable Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to the start date, with the ability to obtain special program access afterward. Candidates should be capable of working within a structured development environment, following established practices and processes to maintain configuration management and ensure quality standards. U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to security clearance requirements.
Responsibilities

  • Assist in the requirements gathering, design, development, and testing of real-time embedded software, applications, and tools, including developing new products or enhancing existing systems.
  • Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions that meet project specifications and performance criteria.
  • Participate in internal reviews of software components and systems to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, systems engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless integration and delivery of software products.
  • Work on problems with a defined scope, schedule, and expectations, demonstrating effective time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Follow established software development practices, including configuration management, version control, and documentation procedures.
  • Obtain necessary program access and maintain compliance with security protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
