About The Role
We are seeking experienced and senior Software Engineers to join our Phantom Works team at Boeing in Berkeley, MO. This role focuses on developing Vehicle Management System (VMS) software that supports advanced defense platforms. The VMS is critical for providing flight and subsystem control, ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of complex aerospace systems. As a key member of our team, you will be involved in designing, implementing, testing, and integrating software components for real-time embedded systems used in mission-critical applications. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge proprietary programs, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and see your code operate on flight hardware. This position offers a unique chance to contribute to high-impact projects that enhance national security and technological advancement.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields, along with significant professional experience. Candidates should have at least 5+ years of experience in software development using C/C++, with a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Preferred qualifications include extensive experience in designing and developing real-time or non-real-time systems, safety-critical software, and embedded systems. Candidates must hold an active Secret Clearance and demonstrate familiarity with industry standards such as MIL-STD-882E, DO-178C, and related processes. Additional skills in Python, C#, Assembly language, and real-time operating systems like GreenHills Integrity are highly desirable. Experience with fault-tolerant systems, signal processing, control system design, and tools such as Jira, Git, and ClearCase will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for the Vehicle Management System software. You will implement and integrate C/C++ software components for real-time embedded systems, ensuring they meet stringent safety and performance standards. Creating and executing comprehensive software development plans, verification strategies, and test procedures will be essential to demonstrate compliance with requirements. As a technical leader, you will provide expertise and mentorship to team members, fostering best practices and continuous improvement in software processes, tools, and metrics. Tracking project progress, ensuring conformance to industry standards, and facilitating collaboration across multidisciplinary teams are integral parts of the role. Additionally, you will contribute to the evolution of software development methodologies, participate in code reviews, and support integration and testing activities on flight hardware.
