About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cloud Software Engineer to join our Mission Networks Cloud Engineering team in Melbourne, FL. In this role, you will leverage cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud to develop, deploy, and optimize mission-critical cloud applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design architectures, and implement scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud-based software development, microservices architecture, and DevOps practices. This position offers an innovative environment where you will lead key tasks related to cloud application design, deployment, and operational support, ensuring the success of complex defense programs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 6-9 years of software development experience. A graduate degree with 4-7 years of experience is also acceptable. Alternatively, candidates with over 10-12 years of relevant experience without a degree will be considered. Preferred qualifications include more than five years of experience as a cloud software developer, proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C++, and Python, and hands-on experience with JavaScript frameworks like NodeJS or ReactJS. Candidates should have a solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, DevOps tools (such as Jira, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud architecture certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect. The ability to obtain and maintain an FAA public trust clearance is required.
Responsibilities
As a Lead Cloud Software Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and integrating cloud-based applications within an Agile development environment. You will lead tasks related to cloud application architecture, deployment, and integration of cloud and non-cloud components to ensure seamless operation. Developing scalable, highly-available enterprise systems for cloud environments, particularly containerized workloads on platforms such as EKS or OpenShift, will be a key part of your role. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to review designs, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies. Implementing DevOps best practices, including automated build, test, and deployment pipelines, will be essential to improve operational efficiency. Additionally, you will provide operational support to maintain high availability and meet service level agreements, ensuring the robustness and security of cloud solutions.
